Iniciamos este hilo de experiencias dando a conocer esta interesante región del sureste francés.
En Goupil Connexion vamos a trabajar con 3 áreas rurales que corresponden a 3 agroecosistemas y usos de la tierra diferentes, dentro del interior de la zona de Languedoc.
A. En Garrigues, encontramos:
– Agropastoreo de 100-300 ovejas, con 3 meses de trashumancia en las montañas de Cévennes.
– Se hace el famoso queso de cabra local «AOP Pélardon des cévennes» con pequeños productores (50-70 cabras)
– Pequeños productores de cerdos o aves de corral,
– Viñedos (AOP Côteaux du Larzac)
B. Entre Gard y Herault. Área al sur de la ciudad de Ales.
-Cultivos de girasol, trigo, heno
-Viñedos y olivares
-Grandes prados. Granjas de caballos con fines recreativos
-Productores de hortalizas
-Pequeños rebaños de ovejas trashumantes
C. Larzac Causse. Meseta de piedra caliza de Larzac, lejos de las grandes ciudades.
-Ganado ovino o vacuno sedentario para carne; ovinos intensivo en leche para queso roquefort.
-Grandes tierras y cultivos.
-Garrigas con escaso pastoreo ovino extensivo trashumante
Además del programa educativo, atendiendo a estas 3 áreas, Goupil Connexion tiene un Centro de Recuperación de Fauna Salvaje.
We begin this thread of experiences by introducing this interesting region of south-eastern France.
In Goupil Connexion we are going to work with 3 rural areas corresponding to 3 different agro-ecosystems and land uses, within the Languedoc hinterland.
A. In Garrigues, we find:
– Agro-pastoralism of 100-300 sheep, with 3 months of transhumance in the Cévennes mountains.
– The famous local goat’s cheese «AOP Pélardon des cévennes» is made with small producers (50-70 goats).
– Small pig or poultry producers,
– Vineyards (AOP Côteaux du Larzac)
B. Between Gard and Herault. Area south of the town of Ales.
-Sunflower, wheat and hay crops.
-Vineyards and olive groves.
-Large meadows. Horse farms for recreational purposes
-Vegetable producers
-Small flocks of transhumant sheep.
C. Larzac Causse. Larzac limestone plateau, far from the large towns.
-Sheep or cattle sedentary for meat; sheep intensive in milk for Roquefort cheese.
-Large land and crops.
-Garrigues with little extensive transhumant sheep grazing.
In addition to the educational programme, in these three areas, Goupil Connexion runs a Wildlife Rescue Centre.
