Bouillon Cube leisure centre (Notre-Dame-de-Londres, France). How do birds of prey and vultures help farmers? That’s what we discovered on our visit to Sébastien Poveda’s goat farm. And to do our bit, we decided to build a nesting box to give the kestrels a home.

Soudorgues school (France): What is transhumance and what is it for? These and other questions  were answered to the pupils of Sougorgues by the shepherds who also showed them their sheepflock. It is a local tradition to decorate these travelling sheep with colourful wooll pompoms. Back at school the children decided to create their own pompoms for them.

Bouillon Cube leisure centre (Causse-de-la-Selle, France). This group visited the Domaine du Brunet vineyard, which uses organic farming methods. They learned that a great ally of the winegrowers to control some insects that can be harmful to the grapes are bats, so after the visit they decided to take action by setting up nesting boxes for these flying mammals.

Aspères Primary School (France). After learning about the benefits of sheep flocks in agricultural environments and discussing the importance of caring for the planet, they decided to help a wild animal that helps us a lot in this task: the bat.

Goupil at Nicouleau” volunteer group. Our project partners, the Goupil Connexion wildlife hospital, have been working with a group of volunteers to adapt the recently acquired Nicouleau estate. The farm will eventually house an environmental education centre and a hospital. As a first step, the group decided to make the area a friendly place for wildlife such as little owls and squirrels. To do this, they ran a workshop on nesting boxes, which they assembled and installed.

CEIP Príncipe don Felipe. Boadilla del Monte. Madrid. Manual workshop to build aeroplane nests, to place them in their centre and help the colony that goes there every year to breed.
Nature Education Centre. Valverde de Alcalá Council. Madrid. The inhabitants of this village have come together to learn about the biodiversity of their environment and to promote its recovery. To this end, they have placed nesting boxes and released owls bred at GREFA.
CEIP Príncipes de Asturias. Quijorna. Madrid. This school is an example of work on knowledge and promotion of biodiversity through a project that is developed throughout the school year and in a multidisciplinary way, involving the different areas of knowledge.
CRA La Besana. Villalar de los Comuneros. Valladolid. Students learn about the fauna and crops characteristic of their village. Afterwards, they help by putting up nesting boxes for birds and bumblebees.
El Pino de Obregón Special Education School. Valladolid. Students learn about pollinators and go to look for them in the river Esgueva. In addition, they will compare the stretch of river that passes through the city with the one that is more naturalised. Will they find the same thing?
Colegio Maristas, Vallisoletano Cultural Centre. Valladolid. Students learn about biodiversity and help pollinators by building insect shelters.
Agricultural Training Centre in Villaviciosa de Odón. Students from the Higher Degree in Environmental Education and Control learn about biodiversity and design environmental games that can be used by other groups.
CEIP Alonso Berruguete, Paredes de Nava (Palencia). Students from primary school learn about biodiversity and teach it to others through presentations and a field notebook.
University of Valladolid (Castilla y León). Students from the Pre-school Education Degree propose games to teach biodiversity to young children between 4 and 7 years old.
Secondary School Simone Veil in Paracuellos de Jarama (Madrid). Research project on pellets related to Biological Control with raptors
Primary School Simone Veil, Torrejón de Velasco (Madrid). Knowledge of birds associated with agricultural environments and conservation measures for nesting areas by restoring historic buildings.
